About doula support

What does a birth doula do?

I provide continuous support for your body, heart, and mind during pregnancy, birth, and early postpartum. That means emotional reassurance, physical comfort measures like massage and positioning, evidence-based information, and a steady presence so you can stay grounded and connected to yourself throughout the process. I work alongside your medical team — not instead of them.

Do you replace my partner or support person?

Not at all. I support both you and your partner. Many birth partners feel relieved to have a doula present — it means they don’t have to know everything or hold it all alone. I help guide their presence, so they can show up more fully and confidently, while I maintain the calm and informed energy in the room.

Do you support medicated births or caesareans?

Absolutely. There is no “one right way” to give birth. I support unmedicated labours, epidurals, planned caesareans, unplanned caesareans — all of it. Whatever path your birth takes, my focus stays on helping you feel informed, held, and connected to yourself and your baby.

Do you support hospital, home, and birth centre births?

Yes. Wherever you choose to welcome your baby, I’m there. I’m comfortable in all birth settings and know how to help you feel grounded and supported whether you’re in a hospital room, at home, or at a birth centre.

During labour

Are you on call for my birth?

Yes. I provide 24/7 on-call support around your due window, so whenever labour begins — day, night, or the middle of a holiday weekend — you can reach me and I’ll be on my way.

Do you stay for long labours?

Yes. I remain with you throughout active labour and birth, however long it takes. We’ll also talk through rest and pacing strategies in advance so we can both sustain our energy for the long haul if needed.

What happens if you can’t make it to my birth?

In the rare event of illness or a personal emergency, I have trusted backup doulas I can call on. Your care is always protected. I’ll introduce you to my backup during the prenatal period so there are no surprises.

Booking & fit

When should I book a doula?

The best time is when you feel the calling for support. Many families reach out between 20 and 32 weeks, but earlier is always welcome — especially if you want the Holistic package, which includes more prenatal sessions. I work with a limited number of families at a time so I can give each one my full attention, so it’s worth connecting early.

How do I know if we’re a good fit?

If you’re looking for calm, grounded, intuitive support — someone who will truly see you and walk beside you without judgment — we’re likely aligned. The best way to know for sure is a free consultation. There’s no pressure and no commitment, just a conversation.

How do I get started?

Book a free consultation. We’ll talk about where you are in your journey, what you’re hoping for, and what kind of support would serve you best. From there, if it feels right, we’ll figure out the right package and next steps together.

Pricing & logistics

How much do your services cost?

Birth doula packages range from $1,300 to $2,300 depending on the level of support and preparation. Postpartum doula support is available at hourly rates or in packages. Reach out for current pricing details — I’m always happy to talk through what makes sense for your situation.

What’s the difference between your birth packages?

All packages include continuous labour support and a postpartum visit. The Holistic Birth Package offers deeper prenatal preparation, childbirth education, birth planning, and several bodywork sessions. The Basic Birth Package is a lighter-touch option with two prenatal meetings. The Repeat Birth Package is available for returning clients and includes a single prenatal refresh session.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. We can put together a payment plan that works for you. Reach out and we’ll find something that honours both your needs and the value of the support.

What areas do you serve?

I support families in Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Grimsby, Brantford, Guelph, Cambridge, and Kitchener-Waterloo. Not sure if your area is covered? Just ask — I’m happy to discuss.
