My story
A path shaped by birth,
body, and becoming
Certified doula · Shiatsu therapist · Reiki master · Mother of five, including twins

I’m Asnat. A certified birth and postpartum doula, Shiatsu therapist, and Reiki master — and a mother of five, including twins.
My path to this work didn’t start with a certification. It started with my own body, my own births, and the bone-deep discovery of how much the quality of support shapes everything — the safety you feel, the choices you can make, the story you carry forward into parenthood.
I’ve birthed in hospital, at home, and through a twin pregnancy. I know this landscape not only as a doula, but as someone who has lived every uncertainty and every wonder of it. That personal knowledge is the quiet foundation under everything else I offer.
I’ve been in practice for over 20 years. In that time I’ve been humbled, stretched, and steadily confirmed in the belief that birth — in all its unpredictability — is one of the most significant thresholds a person will ever cross. It deserves to be held well.
Training & background
The whole person behind the support
My doula certification involved an intensive year-long program with hospital-based clinical practice — not a weekend course. From the beginning, I was learning inside real birth rooms, alongside real families, building the kind of grounded competence you can only develop by being present.
I completed a three-year degree in Shiatsu therapy, which gave me a deep grounding in how the body holds stress, processes emotion, and moves through change. Shiatsu taught me to listen — not just with my ears, but with my hands and my whole presence. That quality of listening follows me into every birth room.
I’m also a Reiki master and trained in Nonviolent Communication (NVC). Energy work and compassionate communication may not be for everyone, and I never impose them — but together they shape how I hold space: with softness, with attunement, without judgment.
Over the years I’ve supported all kinds of births: unmedicated and epidural, home and hospital, planned caesareans and VBACs, inductions and quick precipitous labours, and the emotionally layered births that don’t go to plan. I’ve held space for grief as well as joy. Each one has shaped how I show up for the next family.
What stays with me after every birth is the privilege of that room. The trust families place in me when they are most open, most powerful, most vulnerable. I don’t take it lightly, and I never will.
How I work
Rooted in presence, guided by you
A doula’s role is not to lead the birth — it’s to walk beside you. My job is to help you find your own clarity about what you want, and to advocate steadily for that when you need it. I’m evidence-informed and deeply respectful of your choices, whether you’re planning an unmedicated home birth or a scheduled caesarean. There is no hierarchy of births here.
We’ll meet prenatally to build a real relationship, go through your preferences and any fears or questions, and create a birth vision together — not as a rigid plan, but as a compass. When things shift (and they often do), you’ll have the language and confidence to navigate them.
During labour I’m with you continuously — not just on call, not checking in. I’m there. Offering physical comfort through massage, breathwork, and positioning; supporting your birth partner so they can show up fully; helping keep the energy in the room calm and informed.
And in the weeks that follow, I’m still here. The postpartum period deserves as much care as the birth itself. I bring the same whole-person approach: breastfeeding support, practical household help, emotional steadiness, and grounding bodywork — so you can rest, recover, and find your footing as a family.
”I strive to be the steady anchor you can lean on during this time of change — offering softness during hard moments, encouragement when you feel unsure, and peaceful energy when days feel full.”
